Identification:
Upper body sea blue with two light blue lateral lines.
Belly silvery white with one bronze–yellow lateral line.
Bright yellow and forked tail.
Typical Location:
In open ocean around logs, flotsam, weed lines and in warm current.
Around buoy’s and FAD’s (Fish Aggregating Devices).
Around deep water reefs, wrecks and drop off continental shelf.
Fishing Methods:
Trolling live or dead mullet, mackerel or squid.
Trolling smaller lures, minnows and poppers.
Drifting with small live bait, often with chum.
Deep water jigging.
Fighting Characteristics:
Fast but short runs near the surface.
Fishing Khao Lak's Comment:
Not a great fighter, but can sometimes be caught in large numbers.
Also an excellent table fish.
