Identification:
Yellow to orange coloured body with 5–6 pale bars on the rear part.
Black head, tail, pelvic and anal fin.
Complete body covered with small blue spots.

Typical Location:
Over and around shallow as well as deep coral reefs.

Fishing Methods:
Drifting or at anchor with small live fish or prawn.
Jigging over wrecks and reefs.

Fighting Characteristics:
Aggressive strike followed by a powerful pull
for nearby obstructions on the sea bed.

Fishing Khao Lak's Comment:
Quite rare, but do occur around the Similan and Surin Islands.
