Speckled Snapper.
Identification:
Brown or grey upper body and white belly.
Yellow fins with sand coloured edges on tail and pectoral fins.
Spines on first half of the dorsal and anal fins.
Yellow and steeply sloped head with blue lines.
Typical Location:
Near deep costal slopes.
Fishing Methods:
Fishing near the bottom with crab, squid or dead fish.
Fighting Characteristics:
A fast and stubborn fish, offering excellent fight on light– to medium tackle.
Fishing Khao Lak's Comment:
Large specimens of this species can be caught in the deep water
around the Similan and Andaman Islands.
