Identification:
A narrow, plate–shaped silver body.
Purple tint on upper body and back.
Yellow to cream coloured breast and blunt teeth.
Typical Location:
A very shy fish that lives near the surface
in shallow and calm water.
Fishing Methods:
Small fruits, seeds and nuts.
In captivity it will eat worms, crab, molluscs, small slices of fish
and bread in combination with bait substance.
Fighting Characteristics:
A fast accelerating fish, that will head for shelter among roots and snags.
Several direction changes once in open water.
Fishing Khao Lak's Comment:
Very similar looking to Pirahna, but not actually the same species.
It has a mouthful of large, almost human looking teeth.
A very quick growing fish that gives a very good account for itself when hooked.
