Identification:
Brown to red body with dark brown stripes.
Orange fins and tail, and a rounded snout with small lips.

Typical Location:
Over sand or gravel bottom in large rivers and lakes with moving water.

Fishing Methods:
Bottom fishing with molluscs, maggots or scrimp.

Fighting Characteristics:
A tough fighter with long powerful pulls.

A fish quite similar to the European Barbel,
but without the whiskers.
