Identification:
Cylindrical body with depressed head and rounded caudal fin.
Upper body dark brown to olive.
Lighter brown sides and belly.
Can breathe moist air.
Typical Location:
Around snags and weedy areas.
In slow flowing or standing waters of swamps, channels and lakes.
Fishing Methods:
Bait fishing with live fish or frogs.
Male is territorial so sight fishing with spinners
or minnows is also a common technique.
Fighting Characteristics:
Fast strike followed by a hard pull.
Heads directly for submerged obstacles.
Fishing Khao Lak's Comment:
Commonly found in Thailand's biggest lakes.
