and freshwater fishing in Thailand.
government has been cracking down on illegal commercial fishermen and has
been confiscating their boats. They have also closed several fishing areas for the
duration of the rainy season and too help the areas recover. We are already
seeing the benefits of there being a lot more fish around and sportfishing catches
are on the up.
We are now offering day trips to the permitted fishing grounds outside the Similan
Islands area by very fast speedboat. This trip is available for clients staying in
Khao Lak, Phuket and Krabi but is based from near Khao Lak. These trips are for
3 anglers maximum and are for jigging, popping and bottom fishing only. No
trolling. We can reach the fishing grounds in only 1.5 hours.
The main target species are Giant Trevally, Dogtooth Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna,
Wahoo, Barracuda, Spanish Mackerel and many different species of Groupers,
Emperors, Snappers and Coral Trout etc. You can check out the specifications of
the boat here. Lunch, drinking water, equipment and bait is included. Lures, jigs
and poppers are provided, but must be paid for if you lose them. Jigs 250 thb
each, poppers 500 thb each. The price of the trip is 21,000 thb.
You can check out a picture of the boat here:
We are also now offering a fast local boat trip to the same fishing grounds. It
takes around 2.5 hours to reach the fishing area. This boat is a large, wide, fast
longtail with plenty of shade and is high sided and very stable. This trip is priced
starting at 13,000 thb per day and is available for 1-5 people.
This boat is now also available for our extremely popular budget saltwater trip,
which is a mix of popper casting, trolling, jigging, lure casting and bait fishing.
The main target species are Giant Trevally, Tuna, Wahoo, Barracuda and
Spanish Mackerel. You can check out all the information here: Prices starting
from 7,000 thb.
Our budget saltwater trip is a fantastic value for money trip that very often far
excels clients expectations. With a mix of all the previously mentioned fishing
techniques, there is something for everyone, suitable for beginners and experts
alike. Boats are expensive to operate and trips on the big game boats expensive,
so this a budget friendly way to sample some great fishing. We don't usually
target billfish on these trips, but the fishing for species like Dorado, Tuna,
Spanish Mackerel and Barracuda can be highly productive. It is very common to
catch over 20 fish per day of different species. You are welcome to take some of
your catch for dinner if you like.
It is also possible to fly fish on this trip, Dorado love to take a fly! GT are possible
on fly, but are very difficult to catch. This trip is highly recommended!

Patrik from Sweden has had great success fishing with us in the past at jungle
fishing, Exotic, and Krabi and this year he decided to book a multi lake 12 day
fishing tour, based out of Bangkok. We started at the New Bungsamran for 2
days, then headed down to IT Monster Lake for 3 days, Palm Tree 1 day,
Bangkok Predator Lake 1 day, Jurassic 2 days, Taipar Lake 1 day, Greenfields 1
day and then back to IT Monster Lake for 2 more days. We made a record of the
catches, 159 fish total of 16 different species! Species caught: Mekong Catfish 9,
Striped Catfish 14, Rohu 7, Amazon Redtail Catfish 43, Cheow Phraya Catfish
18, Alligator Gar 4, Pacu 4, Bighead Carp 19, Common Carp 2, Soldier River
Barb 1 world record sized fish here: plus many smaller ones, Asian Redtail
Catfish 2, Cutler Carp 17, Giant Siamese Carp 14, Tambaqui 3, Arapaima 1 and
One huge Java Barb! Patrick has caught very many big Arapaima in the past, so
these were a lower priority to catch if we had wanted to catch more of them, Im
sure that wouldn't have been a problem.

Patrik’s favourite lake to fish was IT monster lake, the main target species being
big Cheow Phraya Catfish, which IT Monster Lake is renowned for. Patrik landed
5 nice ones, here are the best two fish: Here: Here:
He landed 13 Cheow Phraya Catfish, 3 Mekong Catfish and a nice Siamese Carp
during his 1 day visit to Taipar Lake.

Andy from the Uk loves to fish at IT Monster Lake, he is also a massive fan of big
Cheow Phraya Catfish and has landed more big Cheow Phraya Catfish than
anyone I know of. This year’s trip went on to produce his PB. Here is the photo, a
monster specimen! This other Cheow Phraya Catfish was a bonus and although
a big fish, it looks small compared to the PB! Andy enjoys carp fishing very much,
so usually at ITML he fishes for carp until 2pm then switches to predator fishing
till 8pm. The carp fishing at IT is very productive, however you usally have to get
through lots of Bighead Carp and Rohu to get into the Siamese.
Here are some of Andy's nice ITML carp photos:
Here: Here: Here:
Andy likes a few days at Jurassic, it's a very nice place to fish and usually
produces great results. We fished 3 days and landed an unbelievable amount of
fish. We decided to target carp, not predators and landed 17 carp the first day, 15
carp the next day. The morning of the last day we changed swims and by
11.30am we only had 2 Siamese Carp to show for our efforts. Not bad, but
compared to the last 2 days that's slow! We changed to float fishing tactics and
the catch rate went through the roof! The fishing was non stop, we had to stop
using 2 rods and just use the 1. In 6.5 hours Andy landed 24 more carp, mainly
Giant Siamese, but a few nice Cutler Carp as well.
Biggest carp of the session here:
Laurence King from the UK who is well known on the Thai fishing scene came to
fish with us in his quest for his 10th freshwater fish over the 100 lbs barrier. The
target was the mighty Cheow Phraya Catfish. Many lakes in Thailand hold fish of
this size, however ITML produces them consistently.
The lake was quite busy which is unusual and the Cheow Phraya Catfish were
very reluctant to feed confidently. Cagey runs, hook pulls and being “plagued” by
huge Amazon Redtail Catfish making the quest more difficult than it usually is.
Eventually Laurance hooked into the one he was after and after a very lengthy,
extremely hard, nervous battle he netted this awesome well earned fish. A
fantastic achievement and well deserved! He has since gone on to land his 11th
freshwater species over 100 lbs, a massive Amazon Redtail Catfish! During his 5
days at ITML he split his days carp fishing in the morning and predator fishing
2pm - 8pm. His catch record for the 5 days was an incredible 125 fish of 14
different species including a few new species for him. Awesome fishing by
anyone's standards!

Exotic Lake is still producing great fish and well worth a visit. It is still Thailand's
No1 fishery for being the most consistent lake for very big Arapaima. With new
luxury bungalows overlooking the lake with a magnificent mountain backdrop,
your non angling partners can come along and enjoy the amazing experience
with you. We now have a special offer of 2 extra fishing rods for the amazing
price of 1,500 thb the pair.

catching at EFT.

Boon Mar Ponds is still very popular for anglers passing through Bangkok. The
fishery is only 25 minutes away from Bangkok's Survanabhumi Airport, so if you
have a late afternoon or evening flight, there is still time to fit in a session at this
highly productive lure and fly fishing destination. Our driver will drop you off at the
airport after the fishing with plenty of time to catch your flight at no extra charge.
