Tippet & Leader Knot
Step by Step.

Tie a double overhand knot in one end
of your mono leader or shock tippet.
Tippet & Leader Knot Step 1
Tippet & Leader Knot Step 2
Tension the knot to the point where
a double loop is formed, but no more.
Thread the class tippet or mono main line
through the double loop configuration as shown.
Tippet & Leader Knot Step 3
Tippet & Leader Knot Step 4
Pull the double overhand knot in the heavy line
really tight so that some flattening
or deformity is noticeable.
You need to tie a nail knot in the class tippet
or mono main line using a fine metal tube.
Tippet & Leader Knot Step 5
Tippet & Leader Knot Step 6
Wrap your tube with the class tippet
or mono main line eleven or twelve times.
Then thread the class tippet
or mono main line into the tube.
Tippet & Leader Knot Step 7
Tippet & Leader Knot Step 8
Slide the tube out from under the wraps.
Slide the two knots together.

Close up the nail knot but don't pull it too tight
or you could break the class tippet
and have to start again.
Tippet & Leader Knot Step 9
Tippet & Leader Knot Step 10
Trim the tags and the attachment is complete.
